CAMPERS' CORNER: INSPIRING EXPERIENCES
|
The CIEF Summer Camp was amazing! I had the chance to meet some of the coolest people ever, like the fantastic coordinators who made the camp so special. We got to explore various job sites and dive into the construction world. Before this camp, I was unsure about pursuing an engineering career, but this experience totally changed my perspective. I’m now super pumped about studying structural engineering in college. This camp was a game-changer and truly unforgettable! - Laksita Nandakumar Summer Camp 2024 |
The CIEF Summer Camp was an amazing experience that solidified my future career in construction and gave me meaningful industry experience. During the Salesforce architecture walkthrough, I bombarded the designers with questions, which boosted my confidence in pursuing my passions. I also gained experience with new tools and materials, like sheet metal, and improved my carpentry skills. One of the biggest takeaways was seeing women’s roles in construction. Being the only female in my shop classes and noticing the predominantly male mentors at the camp was disheartening. However, many of the campers were female, and discussing these issues offered a valuable perspective and encouraged me not to give up. Overall, it was a great learning experience. - Callie Blackstock Oakmont High School
