Construction Industry Education Foundation
In Partnership with SRBX

Our Mission

The Construction Industry Educational Foundation, in partnership with SRBX contributes significantly to the health of the construction and design industry by supporting educational endeavors, mentoring initiatives and training activities throughout California.

Our Programs

CREATE Mentoring Program - This program exists to educate and inspire students to pursue career pathways which create the built environment. Students are given an RFP to design a mock project and are mentored through the process by industry professionals. During the eight month program they visit active job sites, participate in a hands-on Trades Day, complete a client needs assessment, physical model, cost estimates, floor plans and a final presentation. The program is provided free of charge to all high school students thanks to the generosity of mentors and program sponsors. Click here to visit the CREATE website.

Design Build Competition - Following defined criteria, each high school team participating in the Design Build Competition completes the challenge of designing and preparing construction documents for a 96-square foot structure. Construction of the structure takes place at Cosumnes River College on May 6 and 7, 2020. A panel of architectural and construction professionals from the greater Sacramento area serve as judges. Structures are judged on the students’ ability to perform all the functions of the project including planning and design, scheduling, overall project management, conduct, as well as craftsmanship, teamwork and safety. SRBXEF and the construction community provide all of the materials needed for each team participating in the Shed Competition. Click here to visit the Design Build website.

CREATE Summer Camp - High school students attending the CREATE Summer Camp will experience a six-day, five-night camp that introduces them to careers in construction, re-development, engineering, architecture and the trades. Students will design and build a project for a local nonprofit, complete a needs assessment, meet industry executives, tour active job sites, explore Sacramento and stay at CSU, Sacramento. Students who participate in the CREATE Mentoring Program, the Design Build Program or the Building Industry Technology Academy are eligible to apply for a scholarship that covers most of the cost of the camp. Thanks to the generosity of camp sponsors, no students are turned away due to a lack of financial resources. Click here to apply for the CREATE Summer Camp.

NEXT Young Professionals - NEXT is a young professionals group aimed to help bridge the workforce and talent gap which is currently growing in our industry. By investing in the young talent of our industry, the transition to senior management and executive roles is easier on everyone. Click here to visit the NEXT website.

Scholarships - In 2020, the Construction Industry Education Foundation in partnership with SRBX will award more than $60,000 in academic and summer experience scholarships. Click here to see a full list of scholarship opportunities.
